Conditions

Registering the transfer of a vehicle is the responsibility of both the seller and the buyer. This should be done at the Dirección General de Tráfico (Highway Administration) within the stated time period and complying with all the requisites in the regulations in force.

Payment of the IVTM taxes should be certified for the year prior to that when the transfer is made.

Car dealers

Car dealers are obliged to request temporary off-road notification of the vehicle when it is handed over by the owner. A vehicle notified as off-road cannot be driven on the road, except for test drives, when it must have the corresponding plate on view.
